ANCHORAGES:

The countless bays, coves and inlets in this part of the world make for some great anchorages.  We don't want to rule out any of them, but we'll mention a few here with some notes about what makes them special:

  • Montague Harbour (Galiano Island)
    • Good sheltered crabbing nearby
    • Guaranteed beautiful sunsets if you anchor in the southeast part of the bay
    • The floating bakery
    • Nearby marina for provisions, etc.
    • An excellent Marine park and dock on north end of the bay
    • Park operated mooring balls
  •  Pirate's Cove (De Courcy Island)
    • Well sheltered
    • Nice swimming
    • Rings for shore lines
    • The pirate' chest
    • Read the cruising guide and approach with caution
  • Bedwell Harbour (South Pender Island)
    • Very well sheltered
    • Good crabbing spots
    • A great dinghy ride through the narrow pass between North and South Pender to Port Browning.
    • A marine park
    • Park-operating mooring balls
  • Prevost Harbour and Reid Harbour (Stuart Island)
    • Good anchorages on an isolated island in the San Juans
    • Historical sites and a beautiful setting.
